What is wage theft?
Wage theft is the illegal witholding of wages or the denial of benefits that are rightly owed to an employee, particularly from low wage legal or illegal immigrant workers.
Typical violations can occur when employees are not given their proper breaks and lunch periods. Wage theft can occur when employee is asked to perform work after they are clocked out or perform overtime without compensation.
